THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION WAS RECEIVED 10-2-2025 THREE SUPPLIERS OF COMMODORE REPLACEMENT FLYBACK (LOPT) TRANSFORMERS: http://www.donberg.ie/ (Ireland) http://www.hrdiemen.com/ Dalbani Electronics 4225 NW 72nd Ave Miami, FL 33166 ******************************************************************** From: Tony Kovar Commodore Collector/Restorer Melbourne, Florida USA I followed up with both Donberg in Ireland, and Dalbani in Miami, Florida on trying to locate this Philips 1902a Flyback. Though both suppliers may have carried these Flybacks at one time.... Neither Supplier was able to provide one. However, In my "Deep Dive" Flyback Cross-Reference Number Matching Search.. I successfully found that AT2079 (The number that you gave me from your notes) successfully crosses over to the two Modern Replacement Flyback numbers HR 7533 and HR 7506 from manufacturer HR Diem from Spain...who is STILL Producing these Flybacks and seems literally to be the supplier to the entire world for these Rare Flybacks apparently. Flyback numbers HR 7533 and HR 7506 I have found in doing heavy research have both successfully worked and been used to repair 1084-P, 1084S-P, and 1902a-P Philips-Magnavox made Commodore Monitors. After doing a hunt for both HR 7533 and HR 7506 Flybacks to try to locate both of them, I found an Ebay Seller/Supplier: "retrohax de" in Germany on Ebay that carries both of these Flybacks, so I ordered both Flybacks from him for my 1902a-P Monitor Repair. After doing the Euro to Dollar Conversion, each Flyback was $66 with $21 shipping to the USA via DHL Not too bad! I've seen in pictures of you sitting at your workbench doing repairs...and that you actually have one of these Philips-Magnavox on your Repair Desk in the Background.....so one day, You will probably need one of these Flybacks for your own monitor.. Just Being a good steward and forwarding all this useful info...Until our next conversation...Stay well...I have included the weblinks to the Flyback auction sales below and attached a few pics below as well... Its very hard to get 40+ year old Repair parts in 2025!Tony K. ;) HR 7506: - Look at how many sold! https://www.ebay.com/itm/326200716299 HR 7533: - Look at how many sold! https://www.ebay.com/itm/326200715748 Notes: from Buyers of the #HR7506 Flyback: The flybacks arrived in perfect condition and achieved identical good results on my custom testing rig. The HR7506 needs modification to pins to actually fit monitors with AT2079-30101: 1) pin 4 is in a very different place 2) pins are off by a few mm and need bending 3) there is a large metal wire going through the edge of the core that will touch jumpers on a stock 1084s monitor, so those jumpers need relocation. The anode cap and cables are in excellent condition. Fast delivery, excellent packing, thank you! (for a hard to find part!) Just as a FYI, some of the HR7506s need a small hole drilled with a PCB drill 4mm further back for the rear-most pin on the 1084S-P. Otherwise, this had an exact pin fit to the PCB. Worked, but needed pcb modification (drilling hole for ground) and pin bending (pretty tight fit), the original was not 30101 but 30102 in the 1084 monitor but no other issues noticed. Original had common issue with flyback shorting windings, powersupply was making noise of the monitor because of the short which is a bad thing. Thank you! My 1084s commodore monitor is alive again. There were some problems with pins not aligning well but I managed that. Notes: from Buyers of the #HR7533 Flyback: Seems like a good quality item got an 8833-II up and running fairly quickly. Takes a little effort to fit - some plastic tabs have to be removed and the pin spacing means some need a slight bend. The ground pin has to be bent flat and connected with a bit of wire (I used a capacitor leg) since its position is 5 or 6mm off. Can't say how long these will last but so far so good. Overall, a great replacement for an otherwise impossible to find part. Great Seller as well - quick delivery A++++++ Took a couple of weeks to arrive as its from Germany but no longer than I expected. Works absolutely fine in my Philips cm8833 and I now have a fully working monitor. Quality seems good, does need a little fiddling to get it into place. I used a plastic nut/bolt to secure it in place and shaved off one of the other mounting holes as it got in the way. I successfully repaired a 1084S-P1 Commodore monitor with this flyback replacement. It's a perfect replacement electrically but mechanically it takes a bit of work to fit it in. Some pins must be bent to go in and one pin must be bent fully away and connected by other means. Physically it's slightly larger and bumps into an electrolyte that must be turned a bit. But it was all worth it. The monitor has a new lease of life now! Worked well once fitted, I put mine in a CM8833MK2. I did have to bend the pins slightly, and I also needed to fold the ground pin flat and solder that through with a wire. Otherwise, all good. Note: Neither of these Flybacks, #HR 7506 and #HR 7533 will work on the Commodore 1081 Monitor as it has completely different Flyback Pinouts I have found...but they should work on Models 1084-P1, 1084-P2, 1084S-P1, 1084S-P2 and 1902a-P ....ALL Philips-Magnavox Made Monitors...Obviously They WILL NOT work on the Daiwoo Made 1084-D and 1902-D made Monitors as they have completely different Flybacks and Pin-outs.- Tony K.
