Wow!  Duncan M. of the Retro Equipment Lovers Computer Society (RELiCS) has fixed up my Tandy 1100FD laptop!  Though the lead-acid battery of the machine had died long ago, it still ran off its AC power adapter.  The only problem was the floppy drive didn't work; its belt had given up the ghost.  Well, instead of replacing the problematic belt and drive, Duncan replaced it with a direct-drive floppy disk mechanism.  Now, loading and saving data on floppy disks work perfectly.  I hope to pick up the laptop soon.
