One of my favourites I remember reading in the 80's was The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams.  It got turned into a game for the 8 bit computers of the day.  A highly entertaining read I recommend to anybody.

I loved the books, and the tv series, or the original 3 books, never read the other 2.  I was never thrilled with the infocom game, it was never really a game but followed the lame infocom tradition of guess the magic noun-verb.
