A few weeks ago I finally got to see Avatar in 3-D just before it left my area.  Wow, impressive film-making!  I also noticed that director James Cameron has employed designs used in his previous movies of the 1980s.  For example, the flying machines in Avatar are similar to the flying machines in the Terminator movies.  The robotic soldier suits of Avatar are similar to Ripley's robotic handler suit of Aliens.  (Of course, it was nice to see Sigourney Weaver in Avatar.  Cameron had used her in Aliens.)

Still in the Portland, Oregon area,

I missed that movie in any number of dimensions while it was in theatre.  It should make a huge splash when it comes out on 3D blu ray.  That is assuming that 3D is not another flash in the pan flop like it was in the early 1980's (remember jaws 3D anyone?).
