In addition to having a bbs or two available I've sometimes thought if anyone would be interested in a setup to allow linux shell accounts to retro users. Could be interesting to some to have text based email lynx and ftp for retro users. Anyone interested?]

setting up a linux machine with internet access is not too difficult so its doable. I looking at phone line for bbs and may get 2nd or 3rd line for shell access if anyone interested.

I've always felt that would be a valuable service to people interested in utilizing only retro computers for their day-to-day computing needs, while remaining in touch with the modern day world.  Of course, doing so would preclude using this forum... :-\

I don't understand.  I'm posting this message right now
with the use of my C128DCR, Turbo232, Desterm 2.01, and shell
account with Lynx text browser.

Cool; I wasn't aware this was possible!  I'd like to know more about this setup.

My dial-up shell account with Iglou.com makes it all possible.  Others use the dial-up shell accounts on the more national Eskimo.com or sdf.lonestar.org   What else would you like to know?
