Finally got back from the weekend's Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas.  It was more crowded than ever, due to the fact of the new movie being released a few months ago.  When the stars on stage asked the thousands and thousands in the audience if this was their first convention, hundreds raised their hands!  On Friday at a local theatre, the new movie was showed again to convention attendees who wanted to see it again... and there were free gifts for everyone, like t-shirts, posters, and S.T.-decorated I-Phone cases.

My fourth time to see the movie,

P.S. Not all was fun and play.  I went to the Plaza Hotel and booked CommVEx for next year.

Sounds like fun.  My son and I would have really enjoyed it!

Well, there is a future Creation convention in Toronto, but it's for the Twilight movies!  :)  http://www.creationent.com

I just bought this movie this morning on blu-ray, and watched it for the second time tonight.  It was a much better movie the second time I watched it; maybe because I watched it based on its own merits instead of through the lens of the past Star Trek movies.

Not only do I intend to buy it for myself but also for friends and family as a Christmas gift.

Heh, I bought ST I-VI on Blu-ray months ago, and I didn't even have a Blu-ray player.  Last Saturday, Target department store had a Memorex Blu-ray player for $99.99 plus tax; I had to grab it!  Now all I need is a hi-def t.v..  :)

Just a few more to catch up with me.  ;)

On my second viewing of it, I don't know if I'd call it better.  I understood more and more with each subsequent viewing.  I do know that when I saw it the first time I kept thinking about how a younger William Shatner would have played each line of dialog, each bit of action.

I now have the new ST movie in Blu-ray and have scanned over the special features.  I mostly agree with the director that the extra, unused film footage was unnecessary to the story and perhaps would have slowed the story down.

                      For traditionalists, I also bought ST:TOS Season 3 in Blu-ray,  :)
