Commodore PET 8296-D acquired!

     I'm now in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, England.  Earlier today I went to where the PET 8296-D has been waiting for me for several weeks.  The former owner did not want it and its software and manuals anymore, and I asked if I could obtain the goods.  Well, I've seen the machine, and it's beautiful (though the screen shows nothing... probably burned-out PLA chips).  I've done a cursory inspection of the large, storage box of disks, brochures, and manuals.  What a treasure trove of information!  There is much detail there that I did not know before.

     Now that the PET 8296-D has been repaired (see the thread at  http://www.commodore128.org/index.php?topic=3917.0 ), I'm picking it up on Saturday at the TOGA meeting.  I'm excited to see it fully functional!  The tech is bringing a disk of programs to run in front of everybody at the meeting.  Not as payment but as gifts, I'm giving the tech a PET 8010 modem and a PET 8300P daisywheel printer (a big beast of a printer that was difficult to lift into the car!).

...I'm giving the tech a PET 8010 modem and a PET 8300P daisywheel printer (a big beast of a printer that was difficult to lift into the car!).

At the TOGA meeting, it was much easier for the two of us to bring it to his car.  I had cleaned off most of the exterior of the printer, but the interior was still dusty.  When I popped the cover to show the interior to him, the daisywheel was labeled, "Diablo", and so, I suppose it is a relabeled Diablo 630 printer.

     I just registered the 8296-D's serial number at http://cbmpet.com   It should appear there in the next day or so.
