A2000's repaired

This weekend, after the TOGA meeting, I plan to go to the house of Amiga tech, Duncan M., and pick up the two A2000's he repaired for me.  They sat for years (unused since the days of the now defunct Amiga Group Enthusiasts of Fresno back in the late 1990's/early 2000's), because they did not power up with any screen (so much for my adding Super Denise chips into them without understanding the consequences).  Well, Duncan has troubleshot the computers and has them back to full-running vigor!  One A2000 has OS 3.1 and a 2-gig SCSI drive, and the other has OS 2.1 and a 500-meg SCSI drive.  They both have 5 megs of RAM.  (Hmm, that OS 3.1 one needs more... where did I put that A2620 accelerator card?)
Duncan is eager to tackle any remaining A2000's I have, and so, I'll bring him another A2000 which is very bare.  It needs a SCSI controller card, hard drive, CD-ROM drive, OS upgrade, battery replacement, etc.  Next month I'll bring him my precious A2000 Video Toaster system for more upgrading, which includes the Blizzard 2060 card with 128 megs of RAM.  The former owner of the card had put an 80 MHz. crystal in the card and stuck a heatsink onto the '060.  I wonder if that card can be expanded to 256 megs of RAM.
When the Amiwest Show comes in October, I'll be hunting for A2000 parts to option out these machines.

Machines picked up!  Eventually, the OS 2.1 A2000 will get upgraded to 3.1, but it's not a priority right now.

I left him that A2000 and also a broken A500.  At the TOGA meeting, he eyed the CommodoreOne in the Antec PC case that Jeri Ellsworth hacked together.  He was already thinking of ways to reroute the cables and Indus GT disk drive controller board so that it would be a neater and more reliable job; however, he had no time to do that much customizing.

Well, that's the plan, but the A2000 VT system can continue to get by with its '040, just in case he has no time and in case I can't make it back to the Silicon Valley where Duncan lives.
