Happy Easter season, C= and Ami comrades!
The next meeting of the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network is Saturday, March 30, from 2 to 5+ p.m. at

  Panera Bread Restaurant
  19662 Nordhoff Street
  Northridge, California
  (818) 407-9400

We'll talk about exhibiting at the April 6 Los Angeles Maker Faire, and even more importantly, our April 13-14 Commodore Los Angeles Super Show.  Yup, this is the last meeting before CLASS, and we'll be finalizing all exhibits and presentations.
Listen as I regale you with stories of the Melbourne Amiga User Group, the Sydney Amiga User Group, the Adelaide Retro Brisbane group, and the highs and lows of international travel.
The Ultimate 64 returns with plenty of new C64 games released this February and March.  THEA500 Mini returns with its slew of apps courtesy of the Aminimiga distro and now with external, wireless keyboard and mouse. Check out the sweet Green Pen MousE for the Amiga (courtesy of www.Amiga1.com), the TeensyROM for the C64 (now with the OneLoad64 Collection v5 on USB stick), and the pre-production expansion boards for the Mega65!

The LA Maker Faire is edging closer, and our Classic Los Angeles Computers (CLAC) tables now have the computers to be exhibited -- an Ultimate 64, an Amiga 3000, a Commodore PC20-III, and from SCCAN member Jerold K., a brown C64.  The computers will be set up for gaming, except for Jerold's which will be set up for music production/creation.  See you soon at the LA Maker Faire!

Amiga Hardware / A-Max II
Last post by RobertB - March 06, 2024, 02:01:10 PM
My friend Duncan gave me an A-Max II external module to be used with an Amiga.  Not another one (the last one being the module he worked to get running on an A2000 that was shown at the Commodore Los Angeles Super Show 2023).  It's a nice hardware bit if you want to run classic Mac on the Amiga, but it's not nice to go through all the difficult process to have an A-Max partition on an Amiga hard drive.  I'd have to think about putting this on one of my Amiga big boxes.

Amiga General Topics / Re: Amiga OS 3.2
Last post by RobertB - March 01, 2024, 01:48:37 AM
I've found out that a 3.2.2 chip is not compatible with the 3.2 install on the CF card.  Also, I discovered that the 8-meg RAM expander is interfering with the PCMCIA port, even though 3.2 is supposed to cure that conflict.  I've reduced the expander to 5.5 megs, and all is well with the PCMCIA port.

Happy Deja Vous, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 2:30+ p.m., *Saturday*, March 2, at

Panera Bread Restaurant
3590 W. Shaw Ave. (corner of W. Shaw Ave. and Marty Ave.)
Fresno, CA 93711

http://www.dickestel.com/met_loc.htm

Note the date, Saturday, March 2!  It will be a rare Saturday meeting for the club, due to other factors for us not having our meeting on the usual third Sunday of the month.
For discussion, we'll talk about the April 6 Los Angeles Maker Faire and the April 13-14 Commodore Los Angeles Super Show.  Also we'll talk about how filming went for Roger's CLASS presentation.
For our presentations, we'll try out some of the latest C64 / VIC-20  games and demos.  Not only that but we'll look at some classic C64 disks-of-the-month from the defunct Commodore Hayward User Group (CHUG) and some brand new Amiga disks-of-the-month from The Other Group of Amigoids (TOGA).

News and Events / Next FCUG meeting - Sunday, Fe...
Last post by RobertB - February 11, 2024, 01:49:25 AM
Happy Super Bowl Day, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 2:30+ p.m., Sunday, Feb. 18, at

Panera Bread Restaurant
3590 W. Shaw Ave. (corner of W. Shaw Ave. and Marty Ave.)
Fresno, CA 93711
(559) 271-0104
http://www.dickestel.com/met_loc.htm

For discussion, we'll talk about the Vintage Computer Festival SoCal, April 6 Los Angeles Maker Faire, the April 13-14 Commodore Los Angeles Super Show, and even various clubs in Australia – the Melbourne Amiga User Group, the Sydney Amiga User Group, and Amiga Retro Brisbane. We'll also distribute the latest Interface newsletter and the latest Amiga Future magazine.
Like the last meeting, we'll catch up with the goodies we couldn't get to previously, like ChiCLI, which gives a command line interface for the C64, and TeensyROM, a C64/128 utility cartridge that has a ROM emulator, fast loader, MIDI, and Ethernet connections. We'll also try out a classic C64 music program, Dancing Feats from Softsync, Inc.. Watch out for the touchy joystick control! The changes are coming quickly to TRIANGULAR microOS for the C128, and so, we'll try out the new v1.44, and just for comparision, we'll run TRIANGULAR microOS for the C64. THEA500 Mini returns, this time with USB keyboard and running the newly-released Aminimiga v212.
Our meeting will not go on as long as usual (which is always overtime!), because Bernardo Studios opens right after the meeting. Yup, we'll be filming a presentation or two for the Commodore Los Angeles Super Show. :)

        Robert Bernardo
