Now that Ultra HD 4K videocameras and displays have been released, there is a general consensus that they will become more commonplace in 2016. Having media that could be played back at that resolution will be a few years after that. Right now the talk is about Ultra HD Blu-rays.
That makes me think of the Star Trek movies being released in 4K. Even the Star Trek t.v. show being released in 4K! I've had the original series on Super 8, 16 mm, VHS, Beta, Laserdisc, DVD, and Blu-ray. I guess I should start saving up for a 4K t.v., a 4K player, and those 4K discs. :)
Happy New Year!

Though nothing has come of this (yet), at this year's San Diego Comic Con, Paramount says it has plans to remaster the 1979 film in a 4K Blu-ray ?Director?s Edition!?
The Director's Edition being superior,
