Title: Vampire 500 v2 ordered!
Post by: RobertB on April 01, 2017, 02:34:27 AM
Yesterday I paypaled my money for a Vampire 500 v2 accelerator board.  320 Euros which is about $355 US... the biggest Amiga-related purchase I've made in some time!  Even though the money was sent, the notification e-mail still told me that I should wait 3 months or so for the board to be delivered.  Now all I have to do is decide whether to install it in an A500 or an A2000.  As soon as it gets installed, I can show it at a SCCAN meeting.

It's taken me this long!  The Vampire 500 has been installed in my very first Amiga 500 (which I got back in 1995)!  A couple months ago I brought the V500 to my friend Duncan (along with a broken A3000) for him to examine.  The A3000 was brought to another person for major board repairs.  Then we got into putting the V500 into the A500.  We got to the point where we got to the boot screen of the V500, but it was getting late, and I had to leave.  I left the hardware with my friend who would get other hardware bits (adapters, etc.) and the latest firmware onto the V500.  He showed off the fully-functioning A500/V500 at the November meeting of The Other Group of Amigoids in San Jose.  I will pick up the machine at the December meeting of TOGA.

Well, I received an Apollo Firebird several weeks ago, but I haven't installed it in anything yet.  An A2000?  An A1000?
