Finally, my traveling is winding down. Last weekend I was really pushing myself. Friday I drove to the Warp 11 concert in Sacramento 4 hours away. I handed band member Kiki Stockhammer a note from a gentleman in New Jersey who wants to do a documentary film on Amiga computers (Kiki being the Amiga Video Toaster spokesperson).
Then it was a 2-hour drive south to my motel for the night. After 6 hours of sleep, I hit the road again to continue driving south. Six hours later I checked into my motel, went to pick up Charles Gutman of 8-Bit Designs, and drove over to the SC3 Arcade Party in Claremont. By midnight, the party was over, and after dropping Charles back home, I drove back to the motel but didn't fall asleep until 3 a.m..
Sunday it took about 2 hours to get to Hollywood where I relaxed at a Panera Bread restaurant (free wi-fi), and then afterwards I got to the Egyptian Movie Theatre just before 5 in order to attend the tribute to the production designers/art directors of Star Trek. Very informative and well-attended! Designers/directors from the original series all the way up to the newest movie! After they spoke for about 2 hours, there was a showing of the Director's Edition of Star Trek: the Motion Picture. I didn't leave the theatre until 10:30 at night and didn't arrive back at my house until 2:30 a.m..
A short 4-hour sleep and it was time to wake up to go to work.
Whew! Just the upcoming AmiWest Show in mid-October and I'm through with major traveling for the year (well, except for a run up to Portland, Oregon at Thanksgiving).
