Any plans on being up in Seattle or near Ray's?  Up for some Shari's?

I think its a diode, probably a 1n4 with that grey band marking the cathode end.

Yes that should be no problem at all.

Thanks for posting these.  Smaller than last year, but hopefully next year will be better.  LR says
the Moose Lodge says OK for next year.  The event could use some extra publicity.

Definitely is going to have a '50s' vibe to it.  Remember I have Kronos on laserdisc, so I'm set.
I wonder if you sent me up the Moog Producer I could use that as well.  Looking forward to the
footage.

Cool!  Yes, I'm up for the collaboration.  If you have any footage available, let me know and I can start
scoring it. MP4s would work for iMovie HD if you are using that.

News and Events / Re: Modern day BBS's
April 15, 2009, 09:17:53 AM
On the SDF Public Access UNIX System (1987) we still run our own BBS software called 'bboard'.  Its an
interface which is similar to the TOPS-20 BBOARD which could also be read under the MM TOPS-20 mail
manager. It features multiple boards which users can create on their own.  It has replied threading and
also supports user polls with up to 9 response choices per poll.  boards can be set to anonymous when
they are created, but its up to the user to reply anonymously if they choose to do so.

Unfortunately archiving didn't really start until about 1995, so many old messages are lost.  It seems to
have peaked in 2004 with 5,437 posts and 2,678 replies - though in 2008 we had 2,569 and 7,201 replies.
So far this year there have been 615 posts and 2,023 replies.

At some point in 1998 a user or users attempted to create a 'web interface' for the bboard which was
not well received.  After much discussion it was decided that no SDF bboard posts would ever show up
on the web and users were asked not to develop interfaces to it.

bboard was written to operate on a dumb printing terminal but does support VT100 80x25.

And its only 'retro' when you weren't old enough or even born at the time the gear was made.  If you
are using gear that you've always used I don't see how it could be called retro.  Its like calling someone
with a 3 year old car a 'retro driver'.  ;-)

(currently working on a commercial radio license)

Robert-

I need a picture tube for a 4032 and the Teacher's Pet could probably use the 2001 for spare parts.

I ordered mine on Friday and got a C64NIC+ also pre-ordered.  Looking forward to both.

Yeah I heard my name mentioned a few times.  A year is a long time, but now I really feel
obligated to bring that Teacher's PET down with me.

Thanks again for documenting this thing so well.  Next year will be better for sure.

Thank you to BIOS for getting this video up.  The moose lodge looks like a great venue.  I'm sorry I
could not attend after sleeping for a few days (12 hours at a time) I'm feeling much better.  I regret
that I could not attend.

They maybe right and it sounds correct to me.  My father purchased one in the fall of 1982
and I got a VIC-20 for Christmas. It was the first Christmas that I left everything else
untouched and went to my room to play with the VIC.

I've got an Apple ///, my old Apple //c (I threw away the bag because my cat pissed on it at some point and I could never get the smell of urine out of it) and a Lisa 2/10.  I do not have the Apple ][e which SDF-1 ran on.  From what I understand it ended up in the garbage.
