News and Events / Next FCUG meeting - Sunday, Fe...
Last post by RobertB - February 09, 2025, 05:56:09 PM
Happy Super Bowl, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to
2:30+ p.m., Sunday, Feb. 16, at

  Panera Bread Restaurant
3590 W. Shaw Ave. (corner of W. Shaw Ave. and Marty Ave.)
  Fresno, CA 93711
  (559) 271-0104
  http://www.dickestel.com/meet_loc.htm

Discussion will run the gamut from the forthcoming A1222NG board
(Amiga) from AmigaKit to the new MSXBOOK laptop (non-Amiga) to news
about the Ultimate 64 Elite-II boards and C64OS v1.07.  And I'll give a
plug for the April 26-27 Commodore Los Angeles Super Show in Burbank.  :)
The AmigaOne A1222+ returns with the latest Amiga games --
Castlevania AGA, Sky Shapers, the Operation Steel Rain demo, Sokoban,
Skillgrid, and the music game, Tracker Hero.  For Amiga OS 4.0/4.1,
maybe we'll even try out AmiArcadia (which emulates older machines).
Our usual Ultimate 64 comes back with new games -- Abysmal Karma -
Part 1!, Centipede, Platman MC, Ladybird, Man Cave, and Mike Mech 2.
On the VIC-20, we get to the games we couldn't get to at the last
meeting, and we'll check out the new one, Columns.

       Sincerely,
       Robert Bernardo

General Discussion / Re: Vision BASIC v1.1 - Major ...
Last post by Marcio D. - February 03, 2025, 01:33:13 PM
An interesting offer has been posted on the Vision BASIC website.  The publisher is selling a batch of Vision BASIC v1.1 packages at an extreme discount, because the boxes and manuals are slightly damaged.  No floppy disks and no thumb drive are included.  You'll be downloading the software directly from their website.

From what I'm reading, the advantage of this 1.1dm clearance package over their 1.1e "economy" package is that the 1.1e manual is only 300 pages, while the 1.1dm manual is 352 pages long to provide the sprite editor content.

According to the publisher, buyers of this 1.1dm package will also receive a download of v1.2 for free when that update is released in a few months.  Also included is access to their private forum where you can interact with other users and the developer Dennis Osborn himself, if you'd like to receive or give help regarding Vision BASIC programming.

Due to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area, I've made donations to the Red Cross https://redcross.org and to World Central Kitchen https://wck.org .  Both organizations are on the ground there, helping out the people whose lives have been upended.  There are also other worthy organizations which are providing aid.

Happy New Year, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 2:30+ p.m., Sunday, Jan. 19, at

Panera Bread Restaurant
3590 W. Shaw Ave. (corner of W. Shaw Ave. and Marty Ave.)
Fresno, CA 93711
(559) 271-0104
http://www.dickestel.com/meet_loc.htm

In discussion we'll talk about the current fires affecting Commodore members in the Los Angeles area, the February Vintage Computer Festival SoCal, the April Los Angeles Maker Faire, and especially the April 26-27 Commodore Los Angeles Super Show.
In hardware, we look at the Greaseweazle v4 newly-built into a case and having a 3.5" disk drive and a 5.25" disk drive.  (Greaseweazle is a small, electronics board which permits "versatile floppy drive control over USB. By extracting the raw flux transitions from a drive, any diskette format can be captured..." and thus it can transfer a floppy disk into a disk file and vice versa.)
In software, we have the A600GS and/or the AmigaOne A1222+ with the latest Amiga games, like Revenge of the Grinch, Santas Present Drop 4 – Grunge's Revenge, Ami Robbo 2, Yoomp!, the Rastan demo game, the Vigilante demo game, and Bunnito's Feast. The Ultimate 64 returns with the latest C64 games, like Tank in a Dungeon, Soiled Iron, Santa's Workout 2, Captain Ishtar 2, Toki C64 demo game, the Pretzelves, Twintris Deluxe, Golf Dash Extended, and Schreckenstein 65. The VIC-20 comes in with new programs, like Jumpman Pete, Island Beach Head, Cubelco 24, Christmas Card Greetings 2024, and Pacific Air War.

        Sincerely,
        Robert Bernardo

I will sadly (for me) have to miss this one due to unforeseen circumstances.

I really wanted to meet Ki.  Who knows if/when he will be in the area again.
