Happy Star Trek Day, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 2:30+ p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, at

Panera Bread Restaurant
3590 W. Shaw Ave. (corner of W. Shaw Ave. and Marty Ave.)
Fresno, CA 93711
(559) 271-0104
http://www.dickestel.com/meet_loc.htm

For discussion, we'll talk about LCD monitors vs. CRT monitors (hmm, a GE 7-7800!). Once again, we'll discuss our October 6 picnic dinner and the various shows where we will be exhibiting – Rocklin Maker Faire, Bay Area Maker Faire, and possibly the Amiwest Show.
In C64 software, we'll go back to the game software that we didn't properly present at the September meeting. However, we won't neglect new releases, such as Spelunky 64, Grey, River Barrage, Nixy2, and Splatch.
On the Amiga side, the AmigaOne A1222+ returns, and this time we will be looking at A500/1200 games running through its emulator, E-UAE. The games will be classic games and new games, such as MetroSiege, DonkeyKong500, Dr. DangerousV6, and QuasaurusXDemo.

          Truly,

General Discussion / Vision BASIC v1.1 - Major Upda...
Last post by Marcio D. - August 27, 2024, 11:32:22 AM
Vision BASIC v1.1 for the Commodore 64 has just been released:  https://visionbasic.net/vision-basic-1-1-has-arrived/

What's new:

- Support for GeoRAM as an alternative to REU, for the expanded RAM required to run Vision BASIC.

- Support for battery-backed GeoRAM variants (e.g. NeoRAM) to store a copy of C64 RAM, enabling instant access to Vision BASIC and loaded programs at all times.

- New commands in the add-on pack for accessing GeoRAM memory in your own programs.

- Custom NeoRAM cartridge available for purchase as part of a Vision BASIC package.

- Improved default Vision BASIC editor colors.

- Compile speed doubled when compiling on a C64.

- Compile speed quadrupled when compiling on a C128 in C64 mode.

- New commands: GSAVE, CATCH, ALLMOBS, DEF, POLL, LABEL.

- Existing commands improved: LISTER, BLANK, NORMAL, VIDLOC, PANX, PANY, PADDLE, VERSION, RND, RANDOM, BYTES.

- New format for user-defined commands to improve assembly language programming.

- Asterisk (*) now allowed for declaration of assembly program starting address.

- System clock no longer resets during program compilation.

- Filename length now restricted to 12 characters during program compilation to disk, allowing proper appending of file extension.

- SHIFT - RUN/STOP key combination no longer causes potential data loss.

- Overflow of variable information in designated RAM space is now detected.

- RUN/STOP - RESTORE delay implemented to avoid accidental exit out of Vision BASIC editor.

- Improved startup experience for PAL users unable to use the on-disk fast loader program.

- Variable names can now be of unlimited length, provided everything fits on a single program line.

- Vision BASIC manual now includes a command index.

- BUTTON command now supports the programming of 2-button and 3-button game controllers - e.g. joysticks, gamepads.

Amiga General Topics / AmigaOne A1222+ OS 4.x softwar...
Last post by RobertB - August 22, 2024, 10:01:34 PM
Elsewhere on this board, I have the Commercial Commodore 128 Specific Software/Hardware list.  Well, kind of the same vein, I'm starting to list all the OS4.x items I can run on the A1222+.  This list would be useful to those who are thinking about, are getting, or are using an A1222+ and just need some guidance.
Specifically, my A1222+ runs Amiga OS 4.1 Final Edition plus Enhancer 2.2.  It also has a Radeon graphics card for retargetable graphics.  A lot of older OS 4.x items won't run on the A1222+.  Some do.  I am not including software that runs under OS 3.1 / E-UAE.  The listed programs have been found on the Internet or from other systems or from OS4Depot.net.  Let's start --

Demos -

- Full-screen (640x400 or more)

BoingCube
Dekadence - Chaotic
Flares
Supergroup - Supergroove 2
Zero (runs sporadically, seems to run more after installing MPEGA, no sound)

- Windowed

Cow3D6
Nostromo
WakeUp
Scoopex demo sky

As more runnable demos come in, I'll add them in,

Amiga Hardware / Re: Assembling the A1222+
Last post by RobertB - August 22, 2024, 09:46:09 PM
Though I'm tempted to change the case over to one that has a spot for a CD/DVD slot-loading mechanism, I think I'll just buy an external LG mechanism that uses USB.

Then I can read the old Amiga CD's and more,
