After Saturday's TOGA meeting I drove an hour north to South San Francisco and met up with FCUG member, Gerald O..  He handed over an A2000 with 8-megs of RAM, boxes of disks, mice, cables, and a dot-matrix printer.  Groaning that my car was already filled with C= and Ami stuff, I told him I would not put the materials into storage but bring it to Oregon during my Spring Break and give it away to needy C=/Ami users there.  :)

This Saturday is another TOGA meeting.  After the meeting, I head to Stockton and spend the night at the parents' house.  Sunday I pick up another load of Amiga hardware and software from a former user in the area.

              Ooooo, running out of storage,

On Sunday morning I went over to Ken Slater's house to pick up the Amiga goods that he did not want anymore (which was everything).  He had been storing all the goods since 1995 but decided it was time to give them away.  A programmer, he had been into Amiga computers since the very first, even going to the 1980's Amiga swap meetings in the Stockton/Lodi area.  I tried to convince him to stay in the Amiga fold, saying that there were Amiga emulators and that the AmiWest Show was just in a few weeks in mid-October.  His mind was set, and he didn't want to turn back.
Among the goods were an optioned-out A1000, a pair of A500s, hundreds of floppy disks with programs sitting in them, and a monstrously big Bodega Bay expansion box for the A500.  I had never seen a Bodega Bay in-person before... lots of heavy steel which reminded me of PET cases.  Ken said that the Bodega Bay had a populated memory card, a SCSI controller card, and a SCSI hard drive.  I'll open it up soon to look inside!

You got an A500 Bodega Bay?  Amazing.  I must see pictures, and I insist that I am at the top of your list if you ever decide to part with it.

At tonight's FCUG picnic dinner, we had a preliminary look at the Amiga materials I picked up last Sunday.  The members were amazed at the massive Bodega Bay unit!

No one brought a camera, though,

At today's SCCAN meeting we opened up the Bodega Bay expansion unit for the A500.  Six Phillips head screws off and the top cover was removed.  In the uppermost slot was a GVP A2000 Zorro board with 4 megs of RAM and a 3.5 inch Quantum drive.  The other three Zorro slots were empty.  To my surprise there was another hard drive, nearer the power supply and bolted to the bottom of the casing, i.e., not in a Zorro slot.  The drive was unidentified.
I took several photos and hope to have them up soon on the Sccaners.org website.

Though I sent the Bodega Bay photos off for posting at Sccaners.org, nothing came of it.  :(  Paul, if I sent you the pics, would you place them somewhere for all to see?

I'd be glad to help out, Robert.  I'll post them at retro-link.com for you and everyone to enjoy.
