At yesterday's TOGA meeting, Duncan M., the tech of the club, returned my NTSC Amiga 600 which was turned in for repairs months ago.  It was a very basic A600 - no hard drive, no extra memory, and OS 2.05.  When I got it back, he told me all that was done to it.  First, it had capacitor problems; he fixed those.  He also fixed the X key, which originally worked but was twisted crookedly.  He put in a 2 gig IDE hard drive, installed OS 3.1, and added a good selection of games.  He also gave it 2 gigs of Fast RAM via PCMCIA card.  The A600 is now one sweet machine.
He took away an A2000HD I had.  The original owner of the machine had had it repaired earlier by JSP USA, a company in South San Francisco (how did I know?  Because there were business cards/stickers taped to the casing!).  It was missing one of its 2 floppy drives, something Duncan said he could easily replace.  It also used to have a 24-bit video board (how did I know?  Because it was written on the back of the casing near the empty slot!).  Duncan will inspect the rest of the machine, especially the SCSI controller card, hard drive, OS, and battery.  Then he will do the work on anything that needs repair or upgrading.  The machine is in good hands.

He wants to put a CD-ROM drive in it,
