Hey all,

Despite what a handful of idiots have been roomermongering I've not left the retro world.  Still here n have all my stuff in use.  BBS plans still afoot.  But I been into some other things as well.  Had a good summer finance wise.  Was able to afford quite a few needed car repairs, and finance addition to the house to start in the spring.  Also indulged in some newer video gear.  Spent $900 on a new Toshiba 40 inch 1080P LCD tv and a playstation 3 which is also upgraded to a 320 gig drive leaving lots of room for both linux and audio / video files as well.  Also had time to get out around Ontario a bit in the better weather too.

Sounds good!  I always like to see people finding ways to prosper in a recession; you're fixing your car and adding on to your house at a time when others are losing their cars and houses.

Yes thats true.  Fixing up the car I have is less expensive than buying a new one as well.  The TV I got was a decent buy, at $900 it was 200 to $300 less than every place else I found with the same model.  Even with the PS3 I got the 80gig model and paid less for a 300 gig drive than the increase to the 160gig model.  Looking around one can find decent stuff for less than max price.  Much like our fun retro comp[uters (commodore, atari, sinclair etc) were when they were new.

Well, the original PS3 with 60 gig drive is maintaining a relatively high resale price, because it has the desirible PS2 emulation, among other things.
