Alert! CommVEx hotels drop prices!

Well, this window of opportunity just opened up yesterday, and it's only good until this Friday. The Plaza Hotel, and its sister, the Vegas Club Hotel (across the street from the Plaza), are offering further discount pricing for accommodations this summer. If you are planning to come to the July 24-25 Commodore Vegas Expo v6 to be held at the Plaza Hotel, you can beat the CommVEx-reserved prices. For Sunday through Thursday, both the Plaza and the Vegas Club have spacious rooms starting at $22 a night, not including tax (which beats the CommVEx price at $29 a night). For Friday and Saturday, the two hotels have rooms starting at $44 a night, not including tax (beating the CommVEx price at $49 a night).

The Commodore Vegas Expo (a.k.a. CommVEx) is the North American West Coast 2-day event for Commodore 8-bit and Amiga computers.  Presentations are given, and Commodore and Amiga computers are available for attendees to use. As of yesterday, the websites are saying, "Group Overbooking - Error".  When calling the reservations operator, I had to explain I wanted the "Summer Escapes" special which is not listed, not the more restrictive "Deuces Wild" special which is listed on the opening page.

     Boing! As of today, Sunday, May 16, the Fremont Hotel & Casino (to east of the Plaza Hotel) and the Main St. Station Hotel, Casino, & Brewery (to the north of the Plaza Hotel) are offering a fantastic deal on http://www.hotels.com   For one or two persons, Friday night and Saturday night at either location is $45 a night, and Sunday night is free! Total cost with room tax comes out to about $101. Both hotels are
nearby, within walking distance of the CommVEx venue, the Plaza Hotel. I know that the Main St. Station Hotel offers parking, but I do not know about the Fremont Hotel. The Main St. Station Hotel also has their exceptionally fine buffet restaurant, which is the go-to-place for all CommVExers.

Just a week to go to get the special CommVEx rate at the Plaza Hotel & Casino, the venue for the July 24-25 CommVEx.  The rates are $49 per night Friday and Saturday, and $29 for Sunday night (all prices not including room tax).  Call the Central Reservations Department at 1 800 634-6575 and say that you are reserving under the group name, "CommVEx", or go to http://www.plazahotelcasino.com
     If you don't want to go through Plaza Hotel reservations, you can go to the above mentioned http://www.hotels.com (or the parent company, http://www.expedia.com ), and book the hotel.  For example, today guest Michael Battilana of Cloanto Software, makers of Amiga Forever/Commodore Forever, booked his reservation through Expedia and got the following Plaza Hotel prices --
