Going to see the stars at the Hollywood Show

     Before I attend the SCCAN meeting on Sunday, I'll be going to the Hollywood Show on Saturday.  http://www.hollywoodshow.com  In preparation for the show, I recently bought DVDs of seasons one and two of the Invaders and seasons one and two of Remington Steele.  At the show, I intend to get the autograph of Roy Thinnes on the Invaders package and the autograph of Stephanie Zimbalist on the Remington Steele package.  To refresh my memory, I've studied up on both shows, watching 4 episodes of the Invaders and the pilot episode of Remington Steele.  The Invaders had all those big 1960s Fords driving around, and Remington Steele had the 1980s men with their airblown hair-do's.  Each was a slice of time out its era.
     By the way, it's a reunion of the cast of Land of the Giants at the show.  But I can't afford to get all their autographs!

     When I got to to the Hollywood Show, it was just after 1 in the afternoon.  Stephanie Zimbalist and Roy Thinnes were nowhere to be found, though their tables sat there.  That gave me time to wander up and down the aisles and peek at the other stars.  Ryan O'Neal and Ali McGraw were very busy at their Love Story reunion table, as was Barbara Eden at the I Dream of Jeannie table with Bill Daily.  The women of Land of the Giants looked well for their ages, but Don Matheson was looked very aged.
    Finally, Stephanie Zimbalist showed up with her entourage, which included Remington Steele executive produce, Michael Gleason.  His attendance was a surprise to me.  Attendees immediately crowded around her table.  I waited a bit, hoping for the rush to die down, but then I saw the stack of RS scripts sitting on the table, each one being autographed by Stephanie and Michael.  Heck!  I was not going to lose out on a script!  I got into line and found that the script was complementary if you got an autograph.  Well, I got Michael's autograph on a script and told him how much I enjoyed RS back in the day.  Stephanie was a bit distracted by other actors coming to her table and greeting her, but she got around to autographing the script, too.  I asked about her one-woman play coming up in a few weeks, and she confirmed it.
    Roy Thinnes finally showed up at his table, and he was quite talkative and friendly, so much so that he gave some location details about where the pilot of the Invaders was shot.  He couldn't quite remember the Marin County town where it was filmed, and I gave him a number of town names.  But no prize... The ones I named were too big.  He said it was a tiny place on the coast, overlooking San Francisco Bay.  Just as Stephanie Zimbalist had not signed my DVD package but rather a script, I had Roy autograph a photograph with Invaders technology in the background, instead of him signing my DVD package.

P.S. At the SCCAN meeting the next day, I showed my items, including DVDs.  No one could recall the Invaders or Remington Steele!  Them youngsters...!
